LA Bby.

Back again with a brand new blog post and this time it’s not work related, shock right?
Anyways, at the beginning of this year I said to myself, I want to go to LA, it’s always been on my list and finally, after they officially dropped the Covid restrictions in May, I booked that flight (yes I know I snuck into NYC unvaxxed).
Note to self, do not book a flight to Orlando during the Summer holidays. I was extremely red wine drunk during the flight surrounded by a sea of Mickey and Minnie Mouse ears.
Unfortunately the only flights available at the time from Manchester were not direct, so what a better way to start a vacay than a flight full of kids on their way to Disneyland?
Dreamy.
Anyways 13 red wines later, sorry I mean hours later, touchdown at LAX; it was midnight, I was drunk. Uber please.
Okay, I’m not gonna give all details of the trip because you just had to be there, but let me give you a brief overview and tell you about some of the places I visited that you have to check out if you haven’t been before or on your next visit.
So, fighting horrendous jet lag we started the trip with a concert, I’m pretty sure if you follow me on IG, you’ll have seen who, what, where and when, but if you didn’t, 10/10 concert, defo recommend… #numbers 🍊
Moving on, we started to explore LA, and I wanted to do it all, the boujee vibes, the chill vibes, the clubs, the beaches, the hikes…you get the drift. One of the first places on our list was The Polo Lounge at the The Beverly Hills Hotel, because Drake said it right?
Spaghetti Bolognaise isn’t my favourite dish, so Chicken Caesar Salad it was, and paying separately for the chicken and the salad was mind blowing, but not nearly as mind blowing as the bill.
In the mix of all of this, we visited some of the LA bar and club hotspots, so if you’re planning to visit LA pretty soon, definitely check out The Highlight Room, Poppy, The Nice Guy, Harriets and Greystone to name a few. There is something on every night of the week, so be prepared. Also, if you’re not the biggest fan of tequila like me, you’re kinda screwed, because unlike J Cole said ‘we’re not drinkin’ Casamigos’…
Everyone is drinking Casamigos, or Clase Azul or 1942 and to everyone’s surprise, my drink of choice is Hennessy.
If you’re a member, check out the Soho Houses while in LA. Malibu’s ‘Little Beach House’ was by far my favourite, in fact Malibu is all round an amazing place. Period. (As Americans would say).
A couple of nice restaurants we enjoyed were Tao and Nobu Malibu. Hotel Bel-Air is cute for a little day drink, we stopped back at The Beverly Hills for a morning coffee and Urth Caffee has some amazing salads. Let’s not talk about the amount of Panda Express I ate while I was there. It was my go to snack while getting ready and lining my stomach for an evening of tequila and pineapple juice. I’m surprised we don’t have them in the UK, but even more surprised I didn’t come home looking like a panda.
One thing I have to say about LA - it’s beautiful. Don’t get me wrong, there are some pretty rough areas, but there’s something about LA that is just… pretty. Maybe its the palm trees and the sunshine. The whole time I was there I was constantly mesmerised by the views and if you’re a ‘sunset’ girly like me, then the sunsets are to die for, much nicer than the UK.
So for my streetwear heads, I’m sad to say I didn’t shop as much as I wanted to! Simply because my luggage would barely close on the way out, so trying to bring anything back was impossible without buying more luggage, so I’ll definitely be doing some shopping on my next trip. However, one place I did check out was Kith. I love the Kith store in Paris, so of course I had to check out the LA store and it was cute, I loved the ice cream ‘treats’ bar, but i’m not going to lie, the Paris store is slightly better in my opinion. Of course I got some cute pictures, ice cream and an iced latte.
If you know me, you know I’m a wholesome girly at heart, so of course we did a little hike. Fun fact, the Uber driver dropped us off at the top of the hike, so we hiked down. I’m not entirely sure why hiking down hill was harder than hiking up hill, but it was fun and I’d definitely recommend.
Everyone did say ‘go early before the sun gets hot’ and did we listen? Absolutely not.
11am in the baking LA sun and we were wandering around the Hollywood Hills, but the tan after? Impeccable.
So with that I’ll drop some of my favourite pictures from my trip below and I’ll be back soon to fill you in on my next adventure.
Until next time x
