New Balance 997H
/So, a few weeks back, ahead of the release of New Balance’s 997H drop, I had the opportunity to attend the launch event in London.
The new silhouette which features an assortment of bright colours and materials, sits in a more accessible price range than some other kicks on the market. Although the price is a little lower than normal, the quality isn’t affected - synthetic leathers, suede and mesh all make up the 997h, and the bright assortment of colours almost give the trainers a spring/summer feel, ready for the warmer months ahead (hopefully).
Back to the event - New Balance completely transformed an unused shop space into a traditional British pub. Featuring hideous pub carpets, barstools and a juke box - the place definitely felt like your local.
Downstairs led to a ‘secret’ exhibition space which took you on a journey of the 997 from the early 90’s to 2019, showcasing the evolution of the brand and displaying archive and exclusive products.
A panel from New Balance and Sneaker Freaker including New Balance designer Sam Pearce took centre stage mid-way through the evening and talked all things 997. The panel then opened up to the room of avid New Balance fans, authentic collectors and influencers for a quick Q&A, before the music went back up and the drinks carried on flowing. True British pub style of course.
If you haven’t already copped, The New Balance 997H dropped on the 2nd February 2019 in selected retailers, including size?
