Egypt? Yalla!
Hey guys, I’m back with another blog post that sounds like a TripAdvisor review. I ticked off another country, so let me tell you about it.
Let me tell you something, let me tell you something.
If you knew how many times people said that in Egypt and we quoted that TikTok meme? IYKYK.
As you know, your girl loves travelling. Being out of the UK and exploring a different city, country or continent is my favourite hobby. Maybe it’s my love language.
I’ve managed to travel quite a bit this year and there’s still more to come. My summer isn’t ending honey. Sorry, winter? No thanks.
I personally believe having something else planned while you’re already on a trip eliminates holiday blues by 80%. Girl math or whatever.
So my friend invited me out to Egypt with her family and friends to celebrate her mum’s birthday, and how could I say no?
I am that girl who will say yes to any travel plan. You could call me and say, ‘Shall we go to the moon tomorrow?’ and I’d be like, ‘yeah, your spaceship or mine?’
Now, if you know me, you know how busy I am right now. I need to launch Q4 across five brands before the end of October while managing a football sponsorship. Yeah, I know, I still haven’t escaped the life of football. Call me Ted Lasso.
So I’m not gonna lie, your girl is a tad limited on availability.
While everyone travelled out to Egypt for a week, I managed to squeeze in four days…
Well, five, because I missed my flight home.
I know, I know. But would you expect anything less?
Touchdown in Egypt and I was absolutely not prepared for around 10 taxi drivers trying to grab my bags off me and bundle me into their cars.
Rookie error: I didn’t book a transfer and I didn’t buy an eSIM, so I arrived with no service and no transport.
I’m such an Apple Pay and vibes kinda girl. Like, don’t worry, I’ll figure it out… and I always do, so if it’s not broken, don’t fix it, they say.
Anyways, I connected to the Wi-Fi, bought an eSIM and found some staff who kinda looked like EasyJet but weren’t EasyJet, and they had a bus going to my hotel for other guests. They could tell I was a little bit overstimulated, so they said I could get a ride with them.
Yalla, I guess.
Now, I’ll be honest, I didn’t think Egypt was going to be as much of a vibe as it was. Not only was the weather absolutely 10/10, hitting over 37 degrees each day, the people were lovely and the hotel was gorgeous…
But the food?
The food wasn’t it.
I literally survived on rice, couscous and fries for the majority of my time there.
Have you ever watched The White Lotus? If you haven’t, 10/10, would defo recommend. I binge-watched all three seasons at some point last year.
But the whole holiday reminded me of that. The hotel was enormous, we were literally riding around in golf buggies to get from one side to the other.
And the drama?
Ooo girl, the drama.
I wish I could actually tell the story, but I don’t think I can. Let’s just say, what’s a vacay without a lil drama?
Maybe I’ll just say one of the staff ended up in jail and leave it there.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: you genuinely couldn’t write my life if you tried.
I guess that’s why I do.
Anyway, we went out on a boat trip, and if you know me, you know my history with boats.
Back on my first ever girls holiday, I was somehow convinced to get on a speedboat.
Absolute hell. 0/10 wouldn’t recommend.
I made the driver stop the boat near a random beach to drop me off, and I sat in a beach bar all day on my own drinking rum until my friends got back.
Oh, and I was chased by a dog.
Double homicide.
I have never been so scared in my life. I should have known when the seats on the boat were like sitting on a horse and the driver said, ‘Hold on.’
Yeah babes, hold on i’m definitely going home.
Then, to add a cherry on top of my fear, I went out on a stupidly small boat in Greece. The weather was amazing, I was tanning on the front of the boat, feeling myself, lil bit of Drake on the speaker. You know the vibe. Until the driver said a storm was coming and we had to head back right now.
We had to sit behind the driver and he had to turn the engine off when going over the waves.
All I saw was sea, sky and waves. Big fucking waves.
I was crying hysterically, my hair was one big ball of knots and my bikini top flew off, so I was wrapped in a very colourful towel which was slyly giving LGBTQ+.
So yeah, to conclude…I don’t like boats.
However…
This boat trip was a vibe.
Minus the first 10 minutes when I had to lay completely still because I thought I was going to throw up, I managed to pull myself together, we cracked the tequila, turned up the music and had the best time.
Oh, I also went snorkelling.
I know. I surprised myself there.
I hate going underwater. I mean, technically you’re not actually underwater while snorkelling, but once I got the hang of the whole breathing situation and the mask, I had the best time.
I find it crazy how it’s like a whole other world under there. I kinda get why Ariel lived there. I saw the coral reef, Nemo’s friends and a stingray. RIP Steve Irwin.
And I finally beat my fear of going underwater! Someone threw me into the pool…
And I actually didn’t hate it.
I really like this Nicole 3.0. She’s pretty cool.
So, I had the best few days in Egypt. It was definitely needed. I love a lil spontaneous trip.
I saw this quote that said:
‘I’m grateful for all the times I said yes to plans in the last few months. My gallery is full and so is my heart.’
And the group chat?
Yeah… they’ve had some great stories.
Did you see the video of me dressed in a full Sheikh outfit? Ah funny story.
Until next time x
