Sunset SZN.

It's been a minute right?

Well, after a couple of months living life on DND, I'm back... hey, let me fill you in.

So as you know, my last blog was me announcing my departure from size? and as I called it, entering my 'sunset season'. I use this phrase because I saw it online and I love it. I can't remember it word for word, but it's how the sun is setting on a period of your life, and you're unsure of the next stage but excited for the sun to rise and the next chapter to begin. So during my time away from work, I spent some time reflecting and working on myself and figuring out my next steps. I spent a good 5, nearly 6 years at size? and a lot of my personal life was based around work, and although I enjoyed it at the time, it's not what I wanted going forward. You know me by now, I love streetwear and I love sneakers, so I always wanted my work to be in the fashion industry, but I was ready for a change. I have closed so many chapters in my life over the last couple of years and closing my chapter at size? felt...right.

To be completely transparent, the last few months have been a whirlwind of ups and downs. I enjoyed the freedom and time away from my previous role, I spent some time utilising my connections and freelancing but I wasn't used to life in the slow lane, even though I knew I needed it for a moment. Note to readers - networking is honestly the key to life. It's really about who you know, not what you know.

My life has changed so much and it's been amazing. I spent a little more time doing things I love, one thing I've wanted to do for a while was a podcast, so I joined the Sneaker Annexe podcast as a co-host alongside my good friend Danny and our newest member Henry. Each week when we have time, we either meet up over a drink or dial in on zoom and chat all things streetwear, trainer releases, events and so on; so if you haven't listened yet, be sure to check it out on Spotify or Apple Music - https://open.spotify.com/show/232Jkrwh3QJGBhN7zcP2pE / https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-sneaker-annexe/id1541996108

For me, I've worked, whether it be part time or full time since I was 15, without any breaks. I worked two jobs during university and jumped straight into a career in radio after uni and from there I went to size?, so I've never really had a break. I think the person I am now vs the person I was when I first started my career is completely different, my goals and ambitions are different and I'm much more experienced and knowledgeable in the industry. I know the next 5 years of my life will be very different to the last 5, hopefully children will be on my radar, so I was ready for a career which I enjoy, but which I can also fit around my life. I wanted my personal life to take a front seat alongside my career, instead of my personal life taking a backseat like it has done for a number of years.

So what am I doing for work now you ask? Well for now, I want to keep the finer details under wraps but what I will tell you is, I do work in fashion and I work with talent and influencers - something I used to do prior to my 'brand account’ role, and something I really enjoyed. Maybe over the coming months I'll let you in on some of the cool things I'm up to, but for now, you'll have to just wonder…

Now one thing I always toy with, is whether or not to let you guys in on my 'personal' life, I always talk about work and events, but I had some really good feedback off the back of my ‘Something a little different..’ blog post, which gave you a little insight into the ‘Life of Nic'.

Like I mentioned, I've spent the last few months discovering myself and what I want next and this wasn't just on a career level, but also on a personal one too. So biggest personal update? - I recently moved back to Manchester with my boyfriend... yep, boyfriend, we're official. If you follow me on IG, you'll have seen a few story posts here and there over the last couple of months - hard launch, as my friends say.

and if you didn't, damn...your loss because he's great to look at.

Anyways, I just wanted to drop a little life update. I'll be back soon with some more and maybe a work blog or two.

Until next time x
